Y'all. We have a blog!
Hi, I'm Heather. Is this real life? How are we cool enough to have a BLOG, y'all?!? Buckle up, friends. I have LOTS of words. JK. Sort of. :-)
Many of you who know me realize that photography is like breathing air to me; it is essential to my well-being. I am never far from a camera -- whether it's a professional DSLR, a point & shoot, or a phone; I firmly believe the best camera you can have is the one in your hand!
When I left my corporate marketing job, I never envisioned owning my own business in Northwest Arkansas. I never dreamed that I'd be living life right alongside my clients -- celebrating their new babies with them in the hospital, photographing their graduating high school seniors, or receiving invitations to join them in their homes to capture true lifestyle imagery. I had no idea the joy I would feel when my clients send me Christmas cards each year with images we took together! I didn't know that I would have the extreme privilege to capture and preserve precious moments in history, as part of each family's story.
Y'all, I just started out as a young new mama with a "big camera." I had a corporate background in marketing, advertising, design, and social media marketing...but I had no clue where God would take me with those specific skills.
I desperately needed a creative outlet (most new mamas do!) -- and He showed me how I could worship Him with artistry. I could see and capture His beauty in things that...well, honestly things that sometimes we just don't stop to appreciate, things that get overlooked, or things that are fleeting (hello, teeny tiny squishy baby toes!).
Over the last 7 years, I have invested in my gear, knowledge, business management, and talents. I have worked with over 200 families to capture their priceless family memories. I typically book months in advance, and I truly appreciate each family who welcomes me back into their lives year after year.
My shooting and editing techniques have evolved over time to achieve a classic film inspired style; I want you to see your memories as heirloom pieces that can be treasured for generations to come. I work hard to ensure that your entire galley is not only stunningly beautiful, but also cohesive - so your memories can be hung as a gallery wall collection.
Every session is a chance to freeze a moment of history. I do not take that lightly. We laugh, we play, and we use silly prompts to elicit real reactions. I try to capture a few posed shots of everyone smiling, but my favorites always tend to be the more lifestyle inspired shots: giggles, baby toes, ring around the rosie, snuggles, bad jokes, and the electric sparks between couples.
Interested in working with me? I'd LOVE to hear from you!
